Qigong (pronounced “chee-gung,” also spelled chi kung)is translated from the Chinese to mean “energy cultivation” or “working with the life energy.”
Qigong is an ancient Chinese system of postures, exercises, breathing techniques, and meditations. Its techniques are designed to improve and enhance the body’s qi. According to traditional Chinese philosophy, qi is the fundamental life energy responsible for health and vitality.

I will discuss the immense benefits received with the practice of Qi Gong, and what to expect with your experience in beginner Qi Gong. I will also demonstrate how you can get in touch with your own healing energy, or ‘Qi’. For those of you who have already agreed to join us, I do encourage you to come to the demo, as I will explain the ‘why’s, of Qi gong’, which will be very beneficial for your six week experience in class! Everyone is welcome, and bring a friend!

Deborra Cameron has been a practitioner, student and instructor of Qi Gong for the past seven years. “It seemed to come naturally for me …as though I had always known it!”

Deborra with her background in Nursing is now a Reflexologist and “Body Talk” practitioner, and applies Qi Gong and her Chinese Medical knowledge directly to her practice.

It recently has been scientifically proven, that the cells of the body store memory. The ancient and traditional Chinese teachers believe that imbalanced emotion stored in specific vital organs, cause harm and disease within the cellular tissue of the body, this leads to hardening of the tissue and the body begins to become vulnerable to illness and disease. The postures and visuals through the use of sound and colour transform the imbalanced negative emotion into a positive experience for the body, therefore assists in regaining the vitality of the body!

Deborra studied under Master Mantak Chia of Thailand. Master Chia is a taoist master who has studied and adopted his own unique techniques throughout he teachings and study with many famous taoist Masters. Qi Gong survived through many years of Cultural Revolutions in China in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Master Chi helped to revive many of the ancient practices that were passed down in secrecy among the Masters for many generations.

Introducing the Taoist energy practices as taught by Taoist Master Mantak Chia with Healing Tao Instructor Deborra Cameron. The ancient Chinese Tao Masters taught the importance of connecting Spirit to body … or the Cosmos to the Earth through ourselves. Qi Gong is fast becoming popular in Western practices as people are recognizing our hectic paced lives often causes a sense of separation within ourselves. This ongoing class introduces various Qi Gong exercises and meditations which are designed to help gain awareness of the inner structure, strengthen the bones, and develop strong power.

Qi Gong originated before recorded history. Scholars estimate Qi Gong to be as old as 7,000 years.
Master Chi has a very refreshing outlook in that he desires to share what he knows, and also to encourage the student to blossom with the practices in accordance with their own individual philosophy and intuition.

The Physical Benefits of Qi Gong are clinically documented through research through the National Qi Gong Association.

Deborra is very excited in finding the positive results that her students are experiencing through their practices. Students report increased energy and a reduction in effects of stress. They report better sleep patterns, and a calmer outlook on life. There are noticeable improvements from people who suffer from arthritis, anxiety disorders, Chron’s disease, high blood pressure and glaucoma. Regular practice can minimize the effects of diabetes. Studies also show that postoperative recovery time can be dramatically shortened. Qi Gong is very effective for most chronic conditions and relief of pain.

A University of Miami medical report recently reported that Qi Gong profoundly improved the lives of teenagers with ADHD, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder. This is a profound finding because, a national organization of geniuses told ABC News a few years ago that they are concerned that America’s next generation of geniuses may be being drugged into normalcy. They say that given current criteria, Einstein, Edison and most others who changed history would have been diagnosed with ADD and drugged to make them “fit in.”

What Can You Expect In a Class?

The classes generally are 1.5 hours in length. Beginner classes focus on warm up exercises and the Six Healing Sounds and the Inner smile Meditation. The Microcosmic Orbit is also taught and understood as the two main energy channels that the life force energy, or Chi follows. The meditations and warm up exercise enhance the efficiency and opening of these channels.
